Privacy Policy regarding the data processing activities of the “Virtuosos - We play the same language” production
Dear Virtuosos,
If you are under 18 years old, we ask that you discuss this notice with your parents. We can only accept your application if both of your parents have approved your participation in the audition.
Furthermore, as you are the stars of the “Virtuosos: We Play Music in One Language” program, it is important for you to know how we will use the data you provide and the video you upload.
During the audition, we process this data to select the contestants who will appear in the show. Personal data is also necessary for the production of the program and the creation of the final broadcast. This will include your voice, image, and any stories you share about yourself.
The contestants in the program will be visible on television channels in five countries, and your image or name might also appear in advertisements promoting the program. These advertisements may appear on social media or in newspapers.
It’s also important to note that “Virtuosos: We Play Music in One Language” is a team effort. Many people will be involved in selecting the participants, filming the program, and broadcasting it. Further information about these individuals can be found in the notice.
The personal data you provide during the application process will be stored for 5 years, so that if you do not make it into the program this year, we can contact you in the future for similar shows. This retention period only applies to the application data;
it does not cover the footage and advertisements made during the show.
We will strive to meet all your requests regarding data processing. So feel free to contact us if:
- You want to know what video you uploaded or what answer you gave to a question.
- You want to change any of your answers or upload a different video.
- You change your mind and want to withdraw your application.

The organizers and producers of the “Virtuosos: We Play Music in One Language” program are committed to protecting personal data and place great importance on ensuring that our activities fully comply with data protection requirements.
This Privacy Notice aims to inform you about the data processing activities related to the “Virtuosos: We Play Music in One Language” production, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
1. Data Processing Related to the Selection of Contestants (Casting)
1.1. Data Controllers and Recipients of the Data Processing
In relation to data processing connected to the selection of contestants (casting), the following entities will act jointly as data controllers:
- Művészeti Szilícium Völgy Kft. (Head office: 2083 Solymár, Terstyánszky Ödön Street 14, email: info@virtuozok.hu)
- Virtuosos Holding Ltd. (Head office: London EC4A 2DY, Memery Crystal 165, Fleet Street, United Kingdom)
The entities mentioned above will collectively be referred to as the “Main Organizers.”
In the case of data processing related to the selection of contestants (casting), the data controllers will also include contractual partners (individual entrepreneurs) who possess the appropriate expertise in selecting musical talents and determining which
applicants align with the concept of the television show (hereinafter referred to as the “Joint Data Controllers”). The employees of the Joint Data Controllers will play an active role in the decision-making process regarding which applicants will participate in the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” show.
The Joint Data Controllers may involve additional contractual partners (data processors) for production-related activities, such as editing or image processing. These partners may have access to certain personal data as necessary to perform their tasks, but they will act solely under the instructions of the Joint Data Controllers, are bound by confidentiality obligations, and may not use the personal data independently.
1.2. Scope of processed data.
The data processing will involve the following personal data:
- Name and date of birth (age) of the applicant
- Residential address of the applicant
- Telephone number and email address (if the applicant has one)
- Name and telephone number of the guardian (parent or legal representative) if the applicant is under 18
- Video of the applicant’s musical performance
- Information included in the uploaded video, such as why classical music is important to the applicant and why they want to participate in the Virtuózok competition
- Name of the school the applicant attends
- Number of years the applicant has been playing music
- The instrument(s) the applicant plays, or if a singer, their vocal range
- Whether there are musicians in the applicant’s family
- The applicant’s hobbies
- The opinion on the applicant from the selection process
1.3. Use of data from other sources
The Main Organizers may use the contact details of individuals who previously applied for earlier shows or have contacted the Main Organizers in other ways to get in touch with the applicant (or guardian).
1.4. Purpose of Data Processing
The purpose of data processing is to select contestants, organize and conduct the open and television casting, as well as to contact and maintain communication with the applicant (or guardian). The use of data from other sources aims to ask the applicant (or guardian) if the applicant (the guardian’s child) would like to apply for the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” show.
1.5. Duration of data processing.
The Main Organizers will store the personal data for 5 years. This duration is determined by the need to contact applicants (or their guardians) for future shows if they are not selected for the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” program. Contractual partners, as data recipients, will only have access to personal data until the casting process is concluded.
1.6. Legal Basis for Data Processing
The legal basis for the data processing is the legitimate interest of the Main Organizers [GDPR Article 6(1)(f)]. The Main Organizers have a legitimate interest in ensuring that the most talented applicants are selected for the show, individuals who best fit the concept of the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” program. The data controllers have a legitimate interest in having all necessary data and information available for making these decisions. The Main Organizers also have a legitimate interest in encouraging individuals who have previously contacted any of the data controllers to apply for the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” show.
2. Data Processing Related to the Television Program “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” (Virtuosos, We Play in the Same Language)
2.1. Data Controllers and Data Processors
In the case of data processing related to the recording and broadcasting of the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” television program, the data controllers are the Lead Organizers as defined in point 1.1.
The Lead Organizers may enter into contracts with other contractual partners related to the production of the program, who participate in the preparation, organization, filming, editing, and determining which information, images, or footage about the
contestants will appear in the final broadcast. These partners, in order to carry out the tasks specified in the contract, may also have access to certain personal data. These data processors will act solely according to the instructions of the Lead Organizers, are bound by confidentiality obligations, and may not use the personal data independently.
2.2. Recipients of the Data
The “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” broadcasts will be available on various television channels:
- In Hungary, on the channel operated by the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund;
- In Austria, on a channel contracted by the Lead Organizers;
- In Montenegro, on a channel contracted by the Lead Organizers;
- In Serbia, on a channel contracted by the Lead Organizers;
- In Slovenia, on a channel contracted by the Lead Organizers.
These media service providers, as independent copyright holders of the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” program, may retain and use the broadcasts they air independently of the Lead Organizers. In such cases, these broadcasters are considered independent data controllers in connection with the data processing.
2.3. Scope of Data Processed
The data processing may involve the following personal data of the contestants and participants selected for the show:
- Photographic, film, and audio recordings of the contestant made during the filming of the program;
- The contestant’s personal statements containing personal data made during filming;
- Opinions about the contestant’s musical performance in the program;
- The contestant’s name, age;
- The contestant’s school;
- How long the contestant has been playing music;
- The instrument(s) the contestant plays, or if the contestant is a singer, their vocal range;
- Whether there are musicians in the contestant’s family;
- The contestant’s hobbies;
- For communication purposes, the contestant’s phone number, email address (if available), as well as the name, phone number, and address of the guardian (if the contestant is under 18 years old).
2.4. Purpose of Data Processing
The Lead Organizers will use the personal data for organizing the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” program recordings, contacting and maintaining communication with the contestants (and their guardians), the filming process, and creating the final program.
Both the Lead Organizers and the television channels may use the contestant’s personal data for the promotion and advertising of the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” program and its individual episodes. These advertisements may appear on websites, social media, television, in newspapers, or as public advertisements.
2.5. Duration of Data Processing
Since the program material is a copyrighted work, the duration of which cannot be determined, the Lead Organizers will store the program content for as long as the company or its successor exists.
2.6. Legal Basis for Data Processing
The legal basis for data processing is the legitimate interest of the Lead Organizers [Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR]. The legitimate interest of the Lead Organizers is to:
- Promote and advertise the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” program and its individual episodes (casting, semi-finals, finals);
- Ensure the transparency and fairness of the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” competition by informing the audience about the contestants who have entered the competition and the advancing contestants;
- Showcase the talents in the program, thereby promoting individual artists, their performances, and classical music in general;
- Generate interest in the contestants among viewers, encouraging them to attend their live concerts.
3. Newsletter Subscription
The Lead Organizers may send newsletters regarding events, concerts, and the “Virtuózok közös nyelven zenélünk” program with the explicit, prior, and voluntary consent of the data subjects. For this purpose, the Lead Organizers use the name and email address of the data subjects until they withdraw their consent.
The data subject may withdraw their consent at any time, without restriction or justification, and free of charge. The withdrawal of consent will not have any negative consequences for the data subject.
4. Data Security
The Lead Organizers declare that they have implemented appropriate security measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, modification, transmission, disclosure, deletion, destruction, as well as from accidental loss and damage.
5. Rights and Remedies of Data Subjects
5.1. Right to Access
The data subject may request information about their personal data. In such cases, the Lead Organizers will inform the data subject in writing or electronically about which personal data is being processed, for what purposes, and for how long, what rights the data subject has in relation to the data processing, and about their right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority. The data subject may request a copy of their personal data.
5.2. Right to Rectification
The data subject may request the correction of inaccurate personal data. In the case of footage that has been aired, this right may only be exercised to a limited extent.
5.3. Right to Erasure
The Lead Organizers will delete the personal data upon request if:
- The data subject withdraws their consent to the newsletter subscription;
- The data subject objects to data processing, and the Lead Organizers uphold the objection;
- The data subject informs the Lead Organizers that a supervisory authority or a court has found the data processing to be unlawful.
If the Lead Organizers have made the personal data public and the data subject’s objection is upheld, the Lead Organizers will take reasonable steps to inform the recipients of the personal data about the deletion obligation.
In the case of aired footage, this right may only be exercised to a limited extent.
5.4. Right to Restriction
The data subject may request the restriction of data processing if:
- The data subject disputes the accuracy of the personal data;
- The data processing is unlawful, but the data subject objects to the deletion of the data and instead requests the restriction of its use;
- The Lead Organizers no longer need the personal data, but the data subject requests the data to be restricted for legal claims or defenses;
- The data subject objects to data processing, in which case the restriction applies for the period while the Lead Organizers decide on the objection.
5.5. Right to Object
The data subject has the right to object to the processing of their personal data based on legitimate interest [Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR]. In case of objection, the Lead Organizers will assess whether the personal data should be deleted or whether the disclosure should cease.
In the case of aired footage, this right may only be exercised to a limited extent.
5.6. Right to Data Portability
This right can only be exercised with regard to personal data processed based on consent (e.g., newsletter subscription). The data subject may request to receive their personal data in a structured, machine-readable format or request that the Lead Organizers transfer the data to another data controller directly.
5.7. Common Rules for Exercising Rights
The Lead Organizers, on behalf of the data controllers, are represented by Művészeti Szilícium Völgy Kft. (email: info@virtuozok.hu, address: 2083 Solymár, Terstyánszky Ödön utca 14.) for receiving and responding to inquiries or requests from data subjects.
The Lead Organizers will fulfill the data subject’s request within one month. This deadline may be extended by up to two months if necessary.
If the request is refused, the Lead Organizers will inform the data subject of the reasons for the refusal within one month and provide information on how to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority and their right to judicial remedy.
The Lead Organizers reserve the right to request additional information to verify the identity of the data subject if there are reasonable doubts about the identity of the individual submitting the request. This is particularly relevant when the data subject exercises their right to a copy of their data.
5.8. Remedies
If the data subject believes that their rights have not been respected in relation to data processing or the actions of the Lead Organizers, they can initiate proceedings with the supervisory authority of their country or, in Hungary, with the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (website: www.naih.hu), or approach the court.
